Credentials to the Republic of the Singapore

HE Mr. BA Samba Mamadou has presented on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, presented to HE Mdm. Halimah Yacob, the President of the Republic of Singapore, his letters of credence, accrediting him as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mauritania to Singapore, with residence in Tokyo. During the meeting, Mr. BA expressed his warm gratitude to Her Excellency Mdm. Halimah Yacob, and conveyed the message of greetings from the President of the Islamic Republic Mauritania, HE Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani. Furthermore, the Ambassador presented to Her Excellency the economic potentials of Mauritania as well as the investment opportunities.

Director General of Investment Promotion Agency of Mauritania visited Japan

Mme Aissata LAM, Director General of Investment Promotion Agency of Mauritania visited Japan from November 30 to December 4, 2022 to attend the World Assembly for Women (WAW ! 2022). During this occasion, Mme LAM presented a seminar promoting the possibility of Business and Investment to Mauritania on December 2nd, organized by the Africa Society and UNIDO.

His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Abiddin Maayif, Minister of Fisheries and Marine products, visited Japan from 9 to 14 January 2023 to Japan. During his visit, he had important meetings including with the Parliamentary Vice Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Mr. Shinya FUJIKI and several private sectors.

The Minister of Economic Affairs and Promotion of Productive Sectors, Mr. Ousmane Mamoudou Kane met with the Chairman and CEO of Japan Organization for Metals and Energy Security (JOGMEC) Mr. Tetsuhiro Hosono. Discussions focused on relations between the two countries and the possibilities of intensifying cooperation in the oil, mining and gas fields, and the need to encourage the Japanese public-private sector to invest in Mauritania

The Minister of Economic Affairs meets the Japanese Parliamentary Vice Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry

The Minister of Economic Affairs and Promotion of Productive Sectors, Mr. Ousmane Mamoudou Kane, met on Tuesdayˇˇ17 January 2023 the Japanese Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Mr. Nagamine Makoto. Discussions between the two sides focused on cooperation between the two countries and ways to strengthen it. The Minister appealed to the support of METI for access to concessional loans and to contribute to raising awareness of the Japanese private sector on the enormous potential available to Mauritania.

The Minister of Economic Affairs meets with the Japanese Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs

The Minister of Economic Affairs and Promotion of Productive Sectors, Mr. Ousmane Mamoudou Kane, met Tuesday 17 January 2023 the State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Yamada Kenji, during his visit to Japan from 15 to 18 January 2023. Discussions focused on the cooperation between the two countries and the ways to strengthen it. The Minister of Economic Affairs specified that the objective of his mission is the development of cooperation between Japan and Mauritania, notably through the invitation of JICA to review its instruments of cooperation with Mauritania since it will move to the moderate debt level category. The Minister also reaffirmed the need to promote cooperation between Mauritania and the Japanese private sector, and the strengthening of JICA's presence in Mauritania. For his part, the Japanese Vice Minister stressed the importance that Japan attaches to the developments recorded in Mauritania, stressing that the notes he made will be taken into consideration; as will concessional loans which will also be discussed. Regarding the presence of JICA in Mauritania and the revision of its cooperation instruments, he added that these will be subject to sensitization with the Japanese high authorities.

Credentials to the Philippines

HE Mr. BA Samba Mamadou presented Monday, December 5, 2022 to the President of the Republic of the Philippines, HE Mr. Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr., the credentials accrediting him as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania to the Philippines, with residence in Tokyo. After the ceremony, the Ambassador had a meeting with the President of the Philippines, to whom he transmitted the greetings and the message of friendship from HE Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, President of Mauritania. HE Mr. Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr., who was delighted to receive the Ambassador, as the Mauritanian PresidentˇÇs envoy to the Philippines, in turn instructed the Ambassador to convey his warmest greetings to the President and the Mauritanian people, and expressed its willingness to work to strengthen bilateral relations.
