Credentials to the Philippines

HE Mr. BA Samba Mamadou presented Monday, December 5, 2022 to the President of the Republic of the Philippines, HE Mr. Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr., the credentials accrediting him as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania to the Philippines, with residence in Tokyo. After the ceremony, the Ambassador had a meeting with the President of the Philippines, to whom he transmitted the greetings and the message of friendship from HE Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, President of Mauritania. HE Mr. Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr., who was delighted to receive the Ambassador, as the Mauritanian President¡Çs envoy to the Philippines, in turn instructed the Ambassador to convey his warmest greetings to the President and the Mauritanian people, and expressed its willingness to work to strengthen bilateral relations.

Credentials to the Republic of Korea

HE BA Samba Mamadou, Ambassador of Mauritania to Korea presented, on Wednesday, November 23, his credentials to HE Mr. Yoon Suk Yeol, the President of the Republic of Korea, accrediting him as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania to Korea, with Residence in Tokyo. During the meeting granted to him by the Head of State, the Ambassador conveyed to him the greetings and best wishes of the President of Mauritania, HE Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani. He also presented, on behalf of the President of Mauritania, the deep condolences of the Mauritanian Government and people, to the President, to the Government as well as to the entire Korean people, after the Itaewon tragedy of October 29. He also wished the wishes of a speedy recovery to those injured in the tragic event. The Korean President thanked him, and then asked him to convey, in return, his greetings and thanks to the President of Mauritania

New Procedure against COVID-19 for entry in Mauritania
New procedures of the Protocol for the Health Control of the Pandemic of COVID 19 on the arrival of travelers in Mauritania implemented from October 20, 2021


1. Any traveler at land, sea or air entry points must observe the following measures
- Mandatory wearing of a mask
- Hand washing or disinfection with hydroalcoholic solutions
- Respect of the physical distance of 1.5m
- Contactless temperature measurement (thermal camera, or thermo flash)
- Present a certificate attesting that the person is fully vaccinated with one of the vaccines authorized by the WHO such as: AstraZeneca, Sinopharm, Pfizer/BioNTech, Janssen (Johnson & Johnson), Moderna, Sinovac, Covishield

NB: For two-dose vaccines, vaccination is considered complete two weeks after the administration of the second

- Travelers not vaccinated or whose vaccination is incomplete must be provided on boarding with a negative PCR test dating back less than 72 hours and issued by an approved laboratory

2. In the event of the presence of signs suggestive of COVID-19 on arrival (fever, cough, difficulty in breathing, sneezing, general fatigue, etc.) the traveler will be in charge according to health protocol and a standard diagnostic test (TR-PCR) will be carried out.

- The traveler having a positive result, will observe a controlled quarantine of 10 days, in a place of his responsibility. His care and follow-up will be provided free of charge by the services of the Mauritanian Ministry of Health. A control RT-PCR test will be carried out on the 10th day before leaving the quarantine
- The traveler with a negative result is advised to self-confine for ten days to protect his entourage against a possible infection with COMID-19

3. Foreign passengers arriving without a COVID-19 RT-PCR test, or vaccination certificate, are not allowed to enter the national territory and the company that transported them is required to take care of them and return them to their origin.
4. Special case of repatriation of a mortal remains of a Mauritanian Citizen:

- Provide the file required for the transport of the mortal remains (death certificate - certificate of closure of the coffin, repatriation authorization issued by the consular authority specifying the list of two accompanying persons at most, etc.)
- Hold a document from a medical institution in the country of origin of the remains attesting to their COVID-19 situation, in order to take the appropriate health measures
- The remains are transported in accordance with other measures in force in the field of air transport.

5. Special case of teams
Aircraft crews having to spend one or more nights for technical operating reasons and who arrive without a complete vaccination certificate and without a COVID-19 RT-PCR test must be confined in a hotel by their airlines until their departure.

These provisions cancel and replace all previous provisions

New VISA System
The Mauritanian Visa issuing system has been changed to the biometric authentication system. Until this system is introduced in this Embassy, any visa can not be issued here in Japan however you can apply and get VISA at the airport of Nouakchott or at any border if you plan to enter in Mauritania.
